Stereogum: Arctic Monkeys cover Tame Impala: "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards"
Tame Impala’s “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” has already been interpreted by Dave Harrington, Chrome Canyon, Memory Tapes, Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, and the PS22 Kids Chorus, among others, and we’re still not sick of it. Now Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner is the latest to take on the Lonerism standout. He played a solo acoustic version of the song for Tame Impala’s Aussie homeland’s radio station triple j. Watch that performance along with the band’s stripped-down “Do I Wanna Know?” below.

NME: Pete Doherty in new Apocalyptic, Yeats-inspired film "The Second Coming"
Pete Doherty stars in the trailer for a new horror film titled The Second Coming Pt. 1. See above to watch.
The film, which claims to be inspired by WB Yeats' classic modernist poem of the same name, will feature seven people in seven stories focusing on seven different characters in different locations. The trailer includes shots of Doherty inside a flat interspersed with seemingly supernatural events happening elsewhere.
Directed and written by Richard Wolstencroft, the film co-stars Emma Eliza Regan, Michael Tierney, Michael Robartes, Kristen Condon, Kristen Lees and Kim Fowley. It is expected to be released this year (2014), although no firm release details have been announced so far.
Speaking to the Irish Post about the film and working with the Libertines singer, Regan said: "Well with regard to Pete… my lips are sealed. But I think he is a true talent, an original and a poetic soul."
Last week (May 2), Pete Doherty revealed that he and Carl Barât have spoken about the prospect of writing new songs together. The Libertines, who announced news of their reunion last month, will headline the British Summer Time festival at London's Hyde Park on July 5.

Cheetah Chrome doing The Dead Boys' "Sonic Reducer" in L.A. April 2014...
This was the first song I heard at my first punk show, The Dead Boys at Max's Kansas City, New York City, January 1980. Went with Allen Becker. We managed to catch the show, as well as like 7 museums, walking the city from stem to stern, walked all night, catching a few zzz's at the Port Authority Bus Station, before going to a few more museums, and then busing back to Pennsylvania...
The song was "Sonic Reducer", sung by the inimitable Stiv Bators, guitar by the incomparable Cheetah Chrome. Stiv (sadly) is no longer with us, but (surprisingly) Cheetah still is. He's become a Nashville cat, guitar slinger, dad, memoirist, and (perhaps most pleasantly surprising) an astute progressive political commentator online.
Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, Mr. Cheetah Chrome...

Christopher Owens (ex-Girls) Testifies in New Gospel-tinged Song "Stephen"
It's a remarkable song, all the more remarkable when we learn that the titular "Stephen" is Christopher's real-life dead brother, who "just like an angel", tragically left us at a mere 2 years of age. The entire extraordinary real-life Christopher back story is featured here - growing up in the Children of God cult, his relationship with his mother, his desire for a relationship with his father. It's all here. Thanks, Christopher, for sharing. We are all broken people, but as Leonard Cohen says, the cracks are where the light comes in...
