This was the first song I heard at my first punk show, The Dead Boys at Max's Kansas City, New York City, January 1980. Went with Allen Becker. We managed to catch the show, as well as like 7 museums, walking the city from stem to stern, walked all night, catching a few zzz's at the Port Authority Bus Station, before going to a few more museums, and then busing back to Pennsylvania...
The song was "Sonic Reducer", sung by the inimitable Stiv Bators, guitar by the incomparable Cheetah Chrome. Stiv (sadly) is no longer with us, but (surprisingly) Cheetah still is. He's become a Nashville cat, guitar slinger, dad, memoirist, and (perhaps most pleasantly surprising) an astute progressive political commentator online.
