ThisSmallPlanet Fall/Winter 2026 Cool New Music Playlist & Tip Sheet (November & December 2026)
BEST NEW SONG: Canadian rocker Bryan Adams, (best known for his hits from the 1980s and 90s like “Summer of ‘69” and “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You”), insists it’s “Lake Ontario”, not “Lake Ameri-Trump”.
From glacial erosion - to indigenous care
From European exploration - to industrial wear and tear
The “lake of shining waters” is what the Iroquois called her
It’s a first nations name - not an executive order
But things weren’t going his way in Iran
So like a baby tossing the toys from the pram
He may have thought it best to throw a low blow
And create a real dog and pony show
But it feels like another distraction
While the Epstein files were getting traction
One day they’ll come out and we’ll say “there you go”
And then we’ll all dive into Lake Ontario…

Cool New Albums
Bad Brains. Are You Ready: The First Studio Recording (1979). [Trust Records]. November 6, 2026.
Dave Stewart. The Way It Was Back Then.
Diiv. Zirp!
Editors. Surface, Echo & Sound.
Fontaines D.C. Dopamine Chamber.
Gently Tender. This Was Once Fields. Strong album (doubled in size since its original May 2026 release) featuring Sam Fryer from The Palma Violets. Still love the Palma Violets’ classic “Best Of Friends” (2013). They were such a good band. Nice to see that Sam is active and Chilli Jesson, also from Palma Violets is now playing bass and keyboards for Fontaines D.C. (Chilli sang and played bass on “Best Of Friends”. On most of the other songs, Sam was the main vocalist, with Chilli often pitching in on backing vocals on the same mic, reminding some of The Clash and The Libertines.)
Heathers. Awesome. Cool, guitar-based music.
Kelley Stoltz. Writing The Thread. His second album in 2026. It sounds great! He’s cool. I’ll always be fond of his “How Psychedelic of You” (2018)…
Linus & Bonnie “Prince” Billy. The Outsider - The Music of Jules de Corte.
The Monkees. The Monkees. Their debut album from 1966 in a 4-CD box-set featuring the original album in mono and stereo, alternate takes, as well as TV and radio spots.
Queens Of The Stone Age. Perfecth.
Richard Thompson. Hippies, Thugs and Heroes.
Sufjan Stevens. Worst Christmas Ever! Collection of his Christmas songs featuring a brand new one “On This Christmas (It Only Gets Better)”. [Asthmatic Kitty]. November 6, 2026.
Twisted Teens. The Holy Cross Tigers. [Sub Pop]. November 6, 2026.
Various Artists. Felice County Fair. An all-star tribute to The Felice Brothers really highlights their extensive catalog of below-the-radar hits feat Bright Eyes, Deer Tick, The Lumineers, Nathaniel Rateliff, Hiss Golden Messenger, Old Crow Medicine Show, Phoebe Bridgers, Dawes, and more. Impressive line-up, and the contributions of the lesser-known artists are quite significant as well.
Various Artists. Heart of Gold: The Songs of Neil Young, Vol. 2 - Out of the Blue. feat My Morning Jacket with The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Ann Wilson, Peter Frampton, Lucinda Williams, Los Lobos, Edie Brickell, Jesse Malin, Southside Johnny, and more. [Killphonic]. November 6, 2026.
Various Artists. Heart of Gold: The Songs of Neil Young, Vol. 3 - Into the Black . feat King Princess, Modest Mouse, Ben Gibbard, MJ Lenderman, Kurt Vile, Devendra Banhart, and more. [Killphonic]. November 6, 2026.
The Who. The Who By Numbers (1975). A new 5-CD Super Deluxe box-set contains the original album, demos, out-takes, alternate takes, and a lively 1976 concert from Swansea featuring several selections from Tommy.
The Zombies. Continue Here. Collects their groovy non-album singles and B-sides from 1964-1967 plus the bonus track “I’m Going Home”, covering the territory between their debut album Begin Here (1965), which was largely covers along with their smash hit “She’s Not There”, and the iconic Odessey and Oracle (1967)(featuring their othersmash hit, “Time Of The Season”). It’s like a time machine back to London’s Swinging 60s.
The Zombies in the 60s.
