Back in April, we reported that Wavves main man Nathan Williams had Tweeted about a new EP which would feature collabs with Best Coast and Fucked Up, and which would be "bonkers." We can't attest to the "bonkers" part of that promise just yet, but everything else is true.
Wavves' new EP Life Sux will be the first release on Williams' own Ghost Ramp label. (He is no longer signed to Fat Possum, and plans to self-release his future albums, including a new one, due later this year.) On September 20, it will be available digitally, as well as on vinyl and CD exclusively in independent stores. That's the witch house-tweaking cover art above. And as promised, the EP features collabs with Best Coast leader (and Williams ladyfriend) Bethany Cosentino, as well as Fucked Up barker Damian Abraham.
Wavves produced the EP themselves at Infrasonic Sound in L.A. Cosentino sings and her Best Coast partner Bobb Bruno plays a guitar solo on a song called "Nodding Off", while Abraham lends his megaton bellow to and his Fucked Up bandmate Jonah Falco plays drums on "Destroy". There is also an awesomely titled track called "I Wanna Be Dave Grohl".
Below, check out the tracklist, and Williams and Cosentino going head-to-head on the Pitchfork.tv show "Over/Under".
