Hurts have been voted band of the summer by NME.COM users.

The duo of Adam Anderson and Theo Hutchcraft beat the likes of My Chemical RomancePulpKasabian and Muse to top the poll.

The band, formed when both members were on the dole, were also voted Best Band ofGlastonbury 2011 by NME.COM users, and picked up Best New Band at the NME Awards earlier this year.

Users were asked to rate a list of bands out of 10, with Hurts receiving an average of 8.93, 0.2 above nearest rivals Kaiser ChiefsThe Killers came in third, followed byMuseBrandon Flowers and My Chemical Romance, who scored an average of 6.95 despite well-received sets at Leeds and Reading Festival in August.

Hurts are currently gearing up for a European tour dates in October, followed by three shows in the UK beginning in Brighton on November 2.

Their debut album 'Happiness' has now sold around 750,000 copies, while the pair recently told NME they're struggling to write songs for a follow-up.
We've got to get depressed again! And that doesn't really happen when you go around playing festivals. We have to engineer some sort of catastrophe to make us feel miserable again.
