Jack White has covered two songs by Elvis on a new podcast.

The musician, who also runs the Third Man Records label, was a guest on the season finale of Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History.

During the recording, he also played a snippet of the track ‘Love Me’, which Elvis popularised and White used to play at coffee houses as a teenager. He also performed ‘Are You Lonesome Tonight’ in full. Listen to the podcast here – White’s section begins at the 20 minute and 50 seconds mark.

“Sometimes I love him so much that I’m afraid to learn more about certain things,” White said on the podcast. “You’re so close to it and you’ve experienced certain things – nothing compared to what he went through – but we do the same kind of thing.

“We perform and we go on stages and we make records and all this stuff. I’m from a different time period, but you notice all these tiny little moments when you see certain things where it’s like, ‘I know exactly what that’s about or what that feels like.'”
