What's Cool Today....

Jesus! Things really are moving along at breakneck speed...

No wonder we all have ADD and ADHD and whatnot... things are moving so fast now, everything is moving so fast...

and it's amazing how fast music in particular is moving right now...

there are a couple of dozen artists, mostly indie rock, but also some folk and hip hop, who i am watching closely and who seem to define the zeitgeist to some extent.

and they all seem to be popping out songs, collaborations, covers, remixes, etc at a dizzying pace...

i mean it's a full-time job scanning the mainstream music press daily, as well as the underground press, blogs, band websites, etc....

and things still fall through the cracks...

in addition to new releases by the artists we like, their friends, and tips we receive from trusted friends, websites, etc... there always are songs we find accidentally online that came out several weeks or months ago.... or even a year or two ago... and we somehow missed..... and then sometimes a golden oldie from a few years back... or from the 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s 00s.... will pop into our lives, by accident, or through a recommendation, and we will fall in love with a song or an artist we may have never given a proper listen to previously....

But the focus remains on new releases.

Some new cool things I found online today:

Foster The People "Torches" (new LP, leak)

Ty Segall "Goodbye Bread" (new song live)

Arctic Monkeys "Hellcat Spangled Shalalala" (new song live on Jools Holland)

M.I.A. & SebastiAn "C.T.F.O." (new song)

Yelawolf "Kill My Nightmare", "2.0 Boys" (with Eminem & Slaughterhouse), "It's a Party" (with B.o.B.)(all newish)

Lovvers "Human Hair" (new song)

Sisters "Street Cars", "Accolades" (new songs)

.... and yesterday (finally) got the excellent new release from Miles Kane "The Colour of the Trap"

Whew! That's a lot of music!

(and more tomorrow? Definitely....)
