Stephen Malkmus, guitar genius, announced he was doing a solo album of electronic beats and such; some Pavement and Malkmus fans feared the worst.
But I'm here to tell you I'm listening to the new album Groove Denied and it is not as bad as we feared... and is actually pretty good.
First of all, it doesn't have any "dance instrumentals". The songs are actually songs, not fragments, riffs, or grooves alone. They have actual lyrics and this being Malkmus, the lyrics are worth listening to.
A giant sigh of relief.
