There is so much music coming out now. And there is so much music from the past, the recording industry going full bore since the 1920's. Sometimes it's time for a revival of a classic artist. Deaths, anniversaries, controversies, books, movies, celebrity covers... any old excuse for a revival will do. Sometimes, it's just the right time.
Here are some of the "revivals" I've been experiencing lately:
Gene Clark/The Byrds (and with Carla Olson)
Eric von Schmidt
Barbara Dane (and with The Chambers Brothers) (and with Lightnin' Hopkins)
Tim Buckley
Tim Hardin
Tom Rush
Gordon Lightfoot
Laura Nyro
Jesse Ed Davis
Little Richard
Sex Pistols
Taj Mahal
Hank Snow
Bobby Fuller
Christy Moore
Fats Domino
Glen Campbell
Steely Dan
Fairport Convention/Sandy Denny/Richard Thompson
Fred Neil
Peter Green/Fleetwood Mac
Memphis Minnie
Blind Blake (both of them)
Mississippi John Hurt
-----------
New stuff I like:
The Lemon Twigs
Talib Kweli
John Lee Hooker King Of The Boogie boxset
Chris Hillman (ex-Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, etc.)
Billy Bragg
Mavis Staples
Blitzen Trapper
