NME: Pete Doherty Working on New Solo Album

Pete Doherty reveals he is working on a secret solo album in Hamburg The Libertines Tickets

The LP will be called 'Flags From The Old Regime'

Pete Doherty has revealed that he is working on a "secret" solo album in Germany.

The Libertines frontman is currently living in Hamburg and tells NME about his latest venture, which he has been recording with producer Johann Scheerer, in this week's NME, on newsstands now and available digitally.

The album will be titled 'Flags From The Old Regime'.

"I've got 10 tunes done now," he says. "There's that one song 'Down For The Outing', which I've had for a while now, but it's incredible - Johann's made it sound like a brand new song."

Doherty also announced that the album has been recorded without his Babyshambles bandmates and instead with "kids around the studio". "There just seems to be a blockade against it, which I don't understand," he says.

He also admits that his record label don't yet know that he is recording the new material. "I don't know what the deal is with EMI Publishing," he says. "I've been told not to tell anyone about the album, but I'm supposed to be someone who writes songs and makes records."

"Everybody thinks I'm up to no good here, but I'm not. It's a really clean place and I'm just trying to move forward - that's the truth," he added.

Yesterday saw The Libertines confirm details of their second festival headline slot, revealing they will appear at BenicĂ ssim in July. The appearance will follow the band's reunion show at this year's British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park, London, on July 5, which is the group’s first live performance since appearing at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2010.
