Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman covers Woody Guthrie's "Deportees"

The Sound Strike are progressive musicians who came together to fight racist anti-immigrant sentiment in the US, as exemplified by an Arizona law that racially profiled Latinos for police harassment, ID checks, and treats of arrest and deportation. Sound Strike has been supported by musicians such as Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), who called for a musician's boycott of Arizona and the group Outernational, whose album Todos Somos Ilegales (We Are All Illegals) is available for free download (you can donate whatever you'd like).

I've always had a soft spot for Woody Guthrie's "Deportees" ever since hearing Bob Dylan do it on the "Hard Rain" TV special, which documented the Rolling Thunder Review.

Tom Morello, The Nightwatchman, does a cool version of "Deportees" on the Outernational's album:
