Sad to hear that incredible singer Phoebe Snow passed away today.
I heard her songs growing up on FM radio. "Poetry Man" in particular made an impression.
Years later I met her in New York at May Pang's house. It was moving to see how devoted she was to her daughter, who was disabled. She had given up her singing career largely, to care for her. Shortly after that I saw her perform at South St, Seaport, just one song, part of a program, but she still had it. She still had a voice that could take your breath away and express such drama and pathos like a gentle sweep of the sea....
And now she is gone, reunited, with her daughter.
Sigh.
